Case Study – Cynthia Spencer Hospice Charity

The Challenge
Cynthia Spencer Hospice Charity support families with end-of-life care.
When they approached us in the autumn of 2023, they had an aging demographic for marketing and events and wanted our help to reach a younger and wider audience.
The charity had not long started working with The Brady Creative to manage their social media and video content and had undergone a rebrand.
They had noticed that they have a gap surrounding PR and wanted some support in this area for three imminent events.
Long term they wanted a PR strategy and ongoing communications support to:
- Reach a younger audience
- Ensure future events are both well publicised and well populated.
The Solution
Ballyhoo PR put together an extensive month-by-month plan to help the charity to gain press coverage across a variety of media outlets including numerous regional newspapers and magazines, as well as local radio.
We have also secured coverage on national industry website Charity Today and arranged a monthly appearance on local radio station N-Live Radio, plus appearances on BBC Radio Northampton and twice on ITV News.
In October 2024 we ran a successful multi-channel awareness campaign called Two Sides to Every Story to mark Hospice Care Week and highlight the importance of palliative care and the dedication of hospice staff.
The Two Sides to Every Story campaign focused on stories from both families who have experienced the hospice and the incredible staff who work there, showing exactly what hospice care is all about – people living life to the full until the very end.
What they said:
Cynthia Spencer Hospice Charity’s Director of Income Generation & Communications Anita Frith said: “Working with Ballyhoo PR has been an absolute pleasure. Their creativity, professionalism and genuine passion for telling our story have helped to significantly raise the profile of Cynthia Spencer Hospice.
“Their PR work consistently captures the heart of our charity and has expanded our reach by thousands! We see Ballyhoo as an extension of our own team and a vital partner in planning and promoting our events.”
