Time flies by for Ballyhoo’s Linda!
In June 2024, Linda joined the Ballyhoo team. Here she reflects on her time so far.
It’s been four months since I walked through the doors at Ballyhoo PR – and what a four months it has been.
The days have been full of getting to know the fabulous team at Ballyhoo as well as our lovely clients who make working here every day possible. Without them, we’d have nothing to write about!
And writing features a lot in my role! With over 25 years’ experience working in the world of writing – whether that be as a copywriter, magazine editor or freelancer – it’s come in handy at Ballyhoo. As a senior PR and content executive, every day is different but the days have one things in common – words.
Often, it can be easy to underestimate the power that the written word can bring. But string the right words together and you can create compelling copy that tells the stories of individuals and businesses. And that’s what I’m proud to do.
My role involves me delving into the world of our clients and finding the stories in their day-to-day operation that need to be shouted about; and then crafting press releases, blogs and social media content to help ensure that readers – regionally and nationally – get to read about their amazing achievements.
Client meetings often fill the diary to allow time to capture the essential details to craft the content. It’s always lovely to speak with our clients to understand their business and goals for the future.
The first four months have been busy, with lots of variety! In my first few weeks I produced an election manifesto for a community interest company, securing coverage in a range of newspapers. I’ve also created social media and blog content for an estate agent, travelled to Bedford to carry out a double page spread magazine interview with a leader in the disability space, produced press releases and blogs for an IT client, wrote about plant and machinery investment for a client with sites in Northamptonshire and Yorkshire, visited my local foodbank and interviewed its volunteers, and played photographer by taking a range of photographs to support the content I have created.
Here at Ballyhoo, we’re renowned for helping our clients clinch awards at regional and national level too. Recently I completed my first award entry for a client, who were subsequently shortlisted as a finalist in the Spirit of Corby Awards. I’m excited to find out if they are announced as a winner (fingers crossed).
I also attended the Northamptonshire Business Expo at Franklin’s Gardens in Northampton in September. It was my first exhibition with the team but it provided the perfect opportunity to meet with some of our clients face-to-face, as well as network with so many other businesses.
In October, I joined the Ballyhoo team in attending the NNBN Awards in Northampton. Ballyhoo PR were program sponsor and we were also there to support our wonderful clients who were nominated for awards. It was amazing to be in the room to witness several of our clients win awards or be announced as runner up.
Time really has flown by since I joined the Ballyhoo team back in June. It’s a fab team and I’m often roped into multiple reels by my colleague Daisie – but it’s great fun! We also had a lot of fun during a recent team photo shoot at our offices in Lamport.
I’m sure the next four months will be just as busy and varied but I’m excited to continue the work we do with our existing and new clients.
